Get to KnowThe Co-Founders of Smith Family Medicine

Many of the members joining Smith Family Medicine already know Dr. Smith or Matt Snarr from past care experiences. Over the years, patients have come to value the personalized attention, thoughtful listening, and genuine relationships they received from both of them. That foundation of trust is a big part of why Smith Family Medicine exists today. So who are the co-founders behind the practice?

Meet Dr. Kyle Smith

Dr. Kyle Smith is, above all, a family man. He and his wife, Jasmine, spend most of their free time with their three daughters—Stella, Charlotte Jo, and Pearl. Life at home is busy, fun, and full of family activities, especially swimming, card games, cooking, baking, and crafts.

One tradition especially close to Dr. Smith’s heart is cake decorating. Several years ago, he taught himself how to decorate cakes and has made each of his daughters’ birthday cakes for the past five years. It is one of many ways he brings creativity, thoughtfulness, and care into family life.

Dr. Smith grew up in Rocklin and has deep roots in the local community. He studied at Brigham Young University, served a Spanish-speaking mission in Arizona, and later completed both his MD and MBA at the University of California, Irvine. Outside of medicine, he enjoys gardening and challenging himself physically, including participating in Spartan races.

As a physician, Dr. Smith is known for being personable, approachable, and deeply invested in his patients’ lives. He believes patients deserve to be treated with the same attention, respect, and care he would want for his own family. What he loves most about family medicine is the opportunity to build lasting
relationships and make meaningful differences in people’s lives, often in ways both big and small.

Meet Matt Snarr, PA-C

Matt Snarr grew up in Idaho Falls, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep respect for doing things the right way. Those early influences still shape how he approaches both his work and his home life. He enjoys building practical skills and taking on hands-on projects, whether that means tiling at home or in the clinic, woodworking and building furniture, or picking up his guitar and staying connected to music.

Matt met his wife while attending Utah State University, and together they are raising their two children in the Fair Oaks area. Life at home is full and active, especially with their golden retriever, Olive, in the mix. As a family, they love to travel, spend time outdoors, and explore new places, always making room to try good food along the way. One of their goals is to visit as many national parks as they can, often traveling and camping together in their trailer.

Matt served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bulgaria, an experience that broadened his perspective and deepened his appreciation for people from different backgrounds and cultures. He later attended PA school in Montana and went on to serve as a medical officer in the United States Army National Guard. He enjoys staying active, works out regularly, and has even completed an Ironman.

At the center of Matt’s life are his family and close friends. He values loyalty, reliability, and being present for the people who matter most. He enjoys reading and audiobooks, spending time with friends, and unwinding with a good board game from time to time. That same steadiness carries into his work as a provider. Matt’s interest in healthcare comes from a simple desire: to be useful to others, to do his job well, and to be someone patients can count on.
