Smith Family Medicine is a Direct Primary Care practice. That means we work a little differently than a traditional doctor's office — here's exactly how.
Direct Primary Care
You get a real relationship with your doctor — longer visits, same- or next-day appointments, and direct phone & text access.
We Do Not Bill Commercial Insurance
For patients with private or employer-sponsored insurance, we do not bill your health insurance for our services. Instead, you pay a straightforward membership fee directly to Smith Family Medicine. You can still use your insurance normally for specialists, hospitals, prescriptions, labs, imaging, and other outside medical care.
Medicare Is Different
We accept Medicare. Medicare patients also pay a membership fee for the enhanced access and non-covered amenities of our membership model. Medicare-covered medical services are billed separately to Medicare, as required by Medicare rules.
Commercial insurance
Smith Family Medicine does not bill commercial health insurance. Patients with commercial insurance pay us directly for membership and can continue using their insurance normally for outside care such as specialists, hospitals, prescriptions, labs, and imaging.
Medicare is the exception
We participate with Medicare and bill Medicare for Medicare-covered services. Medicare patients are still required to maintain a Smith Family Medicine membership, which is separate from Medicare billing and applies to non-covered membership benefits and amenities.

Prepaying a full year saves 5% on your dues.
Memberships are designed for an ongoing primary care relationship rather than episodic or as-needed care. If you cancel and later wish to return, re-enrollment is subject to panel availability and a re-enrollment fee equal to one month's membership dues (minimum $500).
